Reputation ... Handling Everything Socially

Some people do everything for someone else, like their own kid, but manage to inform you they won't do a thing for your needs as a person socially as though you're from an older obviously staler generation.  You know, it just gets a rise out of you, when it's something you like a lot.  Also, people old enough to be your parents would like an older generation, obviously, because they would have them as people they look up to, somehow.  Perhaps, they cling to the parental generation of their own more.

What I mean to say is, they could lure you into thinking they want to be more upfront and then finding some way to swindle you of your reputation.  Like, they'll say they didn't insinuate that or act like you did something wrong when you didn't know, something so important.
